Recently we posted a brief survey to get your input on what should be our next comic book series.
Many of you responded and the overwhelming response was to produce a comic book series focused on the extraordinary life of Joan of Arc.
While the “Maid of Orleans” has been featured in numerous films, television series and even a few comic books, this new series will bring to life her unique friendship with St. Michael the Archangel.
During the trial that would lead to her death, she related how St. Michael was her frequent guide and he revealed to her many things that would help her on her mission.
For this comic series, we will visualize this particular part of the story and St. Michael will remain a constant aid to Joan as she helps bring the French armies to victory.
To help fill-in the gaps of the historical record, I have chosen to base much of the script and dialogue on the play written by St. Thérèse of Lisieux in 1894. This year (2019) is the 125th anniversary of her play about St. Joan of Arc, that features St. Michael the Archangel as one of the primary characters.
The play was written during the Year of Joan of Arc celebrated by France, which included an official recognition of her as “venerable” by the Catholic Church. Thérèse had a deep devotion to Joan of Arc, which only grew stronger as she drew closer to death.
We look forward to bringing this new series to you, which will feature the talents of new set of experienced artists.
Jesus! Maria!
