Help preserve a treasure for a new generation!

Help us restore a popular comic magazine that teaches young (and old) the Catholic faith and old-fashioned American values!

Step back in time to enjoy one of the first Catholic comic book magazines ever created!

Treasure Chest of Fun & Fact was launched by George A. Pflaum on March 12, 1946 in an effort to counteract “objectionable” comics that were popular at the time.

Yet, he did not simply want to “preach” the Gospel, but provide an entertaining alternative that anyone could pick-up and enjoy.

Here’s how Pflaum first introduced his Treasure Chest of Fun & Fact!

More than four years ago the publishers of the MESSENGERS had laid plans to issue a worthwhile comic magazine as a counteractive to the objectionable type.

TREASURE CHEST is not just another substitute for the objectionable comic publication. It stands on its own merits as a quality magazine which children–and adults–will enjoy and profit by.

The art work and illustrations are superior. The content has great variety and lasting interest. Activity projects, such as “things-to-make-and-do,” are included.

The issues in each volume have been meticulously restored and recolored, allowing you to enjoy Treasure Chest like never before!

You can read more about this project at the National Catholic Register.

Volumes I & II are available for purchase here.

Thankfully, this American treasure was faithfully preserved and digitized by the Catholic University of America, where over 500 issues can be viewed and downloaded online!

However, these issues were only digitized and are no longer available in print. At Voyage Comics, we are embarking on the task of remastering the entire collection of Treasure Chest of Fun & Fact and publishing them in physical collected volumes!

We’ve already begun this process, as can be seen below. This requires extracting the inks from the scanned images and then recoloring each page.

Inside Volume I

Volume I was successfully printed in September 2023 and can be seen below!

The Vision

This project is massive in scale, as it requires the recoloring of roughly 500 issues that were released over a period of 20 years!

It is our goal to produce one volume every 3-4 months!

However, in order to make this vision a reality, we are in need of YOUR support.

Printing costs in particular are always rising and we need to print a large amount of these beautifully bound books to meet demand.

We firmly believe that Treasure Chest is a timeless publication that can help counteract "objectionable comics" in our constantly changing culture and give our children and grandchildren an alternative that will capture their imagination.

Volumes I & II are available for purchase here.
