Nathaniel Hawthorne’s daughter is the subject of a new comic book highlighting her conversion to the Catholic faith.
While most American’s are familiar with the classic novels, The Scarlet Letter or The House of Seven Gables, few know the fascinating family life of literary legend, Nathaniel Hawthorne.
Hawthorne raised four children with his wife, Sophia, and were eager to see where their youngest daughter, Rose, would end-up. However, neither would have dreamt that Rose would convert to the Catholic faith and found a Dominican order that serves those suffering from incurable cancer!
Servant of the Suffering: Rose Hawthorne is the latest publication of Voyage Comics that explores the extraordinary life of an heroic individual on the road to sainthood. The official cause for canonization for Rose was opened in 2003 and is currently being reviewed by the Vatican’s Congregation of Saints.
After working closely with the Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne, Voyage was able to highlight the many twists and turns of Rose Hawthorne’s life and how her care for the most vulnerable was nurtured by the literary imagination of her father.
Later in life Rose was assisted in her mission through the generosity of another American author, Samuel Clemens, most widely known as Mark Twain.
Servant of the Suffering: Rose Hawthorne is currently available for pre-order and will begin shipping in early July 2023.
