Are you looking for alternatives to Disney? – Captain’s Log #017

Happy Easter!

The last several weeks have VERY been busy at Voyage Comics! We completed and shipped out The Phantom Phoenix #2 as well as producing a “collected edition” of the Mission of Joan of Arc, putting together both issues in a single volume.

Many of you bought Easter presents and I’ve seen some of your Easter baskets and pictures of smiling kids!

THANK YOU!

We are very blessed to have your support and look forward to completing the Finnian and the Seven Mountains Series this summer and revealing many other new projects that we have been working on behind the scenes.

The Future of Family Entertainment

Recently family entertainment has been in the news, especially with Disney making bold moves to promote lifestyles contrary to traditional family values. They are intent on including characters and storylines in their entertainment that will undermine parental authority, twisting the truth and blurring lines.

Unfortunately, Disney is departing from their family-oriented model of entertainment and has become a slave of popular culture, promoting whatever is “popular” in the moment, not what is true, good or beautiful.

This has prompted some organizations to create new “alternatives,” such as the Daily Wire.

The Daily Wire’s co-CEO Jeremy Boreing announced the company would “invest a minimum of $100 million over the next three years into a line of live-action and animated children’s entertainment on its streaming platform.” He added, “Americans are tired of giving their money to woke corporations who hate them. They’re tired of giving their money to woke media companies who want to indoctrinate their children with radical race and gender theory. But they want to do more than just cancel them. They want alternatives.”

In fact, this is the EXACT same principle upon which Voyage Comics was founded.

I founded Voyage Comics in 2018 to be an alternative to Marvel and DC Comics, who are in the same bandwagon as Disney. Both companies have been slowly introducing similar characters and storylines that are contrary to traditional family values. Sex, nudity and excessive violence are now the “norm” for mainstream comics.

I firmly believe that we need alternatives, especially in the realm of family entertainment. As a father of five, I’m sick and tired of having to pre-screen all the movies, TV shows and comics my kids want to enjoy. In all honesty, it’s getting to the point where I can’t let my kids watch anything produced in the last 3-5 years.

Without alternatives, kids will turn to what their friends are watching or reading, opening their innocent little hearts to the temptations of the world.

The good news is that over the past 4 years, Voyage Comics has been able to produce over 10 titles! It may seem like a small feat, but many small publishers stop after one book.

Yet, we know our 10+ titles are not enough.

Families keep on telling us that their children can’t wait until the next Finnian or Phantom Phoenix is available. We need to produce more content that will keep families with a steady supply of positive, faith-filled entertainment.

Unfortunately we don’t have the $100 million that the Daily Wire has! While we have been able to fund the production of each of our comics, we haven’t been able to invest much money to marketing or advertising.

After these comic books are completed, we need to run an intense marketing campaign to reach millions of families. That’s why we are always in need of extra money. A nice comic book that sits on one family’s shelf will not revolutionize the entertainment business.

We have a marketing partner who can help us reach our dreams, but we still need funding to achieve our aggressive goal. Every purchase you make helps, but also every donation you send our way will get us one step closer to our dreams.

Let’s change the entertainment business and give families an alternative to Disney, promoting what is true, good and beautiful.

The future of family entertainment is in your hands.
