Looking forward to 2021, we will continue the Finnian Series, but also want to introduce a new series to Voyage Comics.
Over the past few years we have always turned to you for feedback each time we introduced a new series. Readers like you are the ones who drive our company and so we deeply value your feedback.
Below are a few ideas we are considering, with a brief summary of each idea. They span several different genres as we look to expand our offerings at Voyage Comics. Also below is a survey to submit your feedback. Alternatively, you can click the link here.
*As a note, many of you may remember a “Superhero Contest” we held in 2019. Several readers submitted ideas and we are very grateful for that! However, after consulting many experts in the field and looking at our current audience of readers, we have decided to explore other ideas instead. The creative process is a difficult one and it isn’t easy to find the right story and the right character that a larger audience will enjoy. We are thankful for your participation in the contest and appreciated the collaboration.
Lux (Working Title)
A new space fantasy series that focuses on a small team of four highly-trained warriors called the Alari. They are sent to the forest planet of Daru to protect it from a savage army known as the Dokalfar.
The Dokalfar seek an ancient power source known as the “Lux,” which is used to fuel the Regnum’s (inter-galactic kingdom) spaceships. Its energy also powers the weapons of the Alari and energy shields that protect each planet in the Regnum’s territory.
Those who control the Lux, control the galaxy.
This story would be the first space adventure series for Voyage Comics, exploring themes of light and how each person’s gifts and talents are necessary in the battle against darkness.
The Phantom Phoenix (Working Title)
Set in Chicago during the 1920s, a young homeless veteran, adjusting to life after World War I, is rejected when he tries to join the police force. However, his desire to fight crime remains strong and he unexpectedly gets caught-up in a series of mysterious crimes that only he can solve. Because of his previous failures, he keeps his identity hidden and adopts the Phantom Phoenix as his symbol, leaving clues behind for the lead detective to find.
Inspired by G.K. Chesterton’s popular Father Brown series, this new series would feature a crime-solving superhero who lives on the streets and finds refuge in his local parish, St. Casimir, where a priest, Fr. Karol, has provided him with a room in the basement where he can tinker with various inventions. The Phantom Phoenix character will also find inspiration from St. Moses the Strong and St. Martin de Porres.
Jord the Draken Slayer (Working Title)
Set in a mythical realm of dragons (Draken), Jord the Draken Slayer follows the story of a humble farmer who is forced by tragedy into an epic battle against dark forces seeking to rule the kingdom.
While the king is away the land is dying and no more children are born. The land is difficult to farm. Many of the people of the land become discouraged and even unsure of the king’s goodness. A few evil men take advantage of the void in leadership and start to spread more treasonous sentiment throughout the land, in the belief that the Draken will one day rule, and they will be given positions of privilege.
Jord the Draken Slayer is in the “high-fantasy” genre, not set on earth, but in a fantasy world created with Catholic principles in mind.
How the West was One (Working Title)
Set in the Wild West, How the West was One is the humorous story of Clem, a simple cowboy who sets out on the American frontier looking for adventure.
However, things don’t always go as planned for the Catholic cowboy and he ends up in hilariously unexpected situations.
How the West was One would be our first series directed at younger children, using comedy to entertain and inspire.
