In the 1990s, Marvel produced X-Men: The Animated Series and it was a ground-breaking series on a number of levels.
For example, in season 3, episode 18, a Catholic mutant known as Nightcrawler encounters a small group of the X-Men, including Wolverine. The X-Men find refuge in the monastery where Nightcrawler is living and what happens next is something unheard of in mainstream animated television.
Nightcrawler essentially preaches to the small X-Men team and encourages Wolverine to dig deeper into his life. While Wolverine holds his gruff exterior, he eventually opens himself up to God and is seen praying in a Catholic Church.
The scene is powerful for a kid’s show (or any show for that matter!) and might even make you cry at its beauty!
