A few years back when I wrote my first article on Skellig Michael for Aleteia.org, a reader from Ireland sent me a video of a priest celebrating Mass on the historic island (Note: This is the same island that inspired my comic book series Finnian and the Seven Mountains and was the filming location for Star Wars: The Last Jedi).
The priest’s name is Father David Jones, a hermit within the Premonstratensian religious family. He has a hermitage in Duleek, Co Meath, and has been previously interviewed on EWTN.
The video is a Mass he performed on Skellig Michael, uniting himself and those present with the original hermit monks who celebrated Mass on that island in that same sacred space over a thousand years ago.
He is one of many priests who have offered Mass in recent years on the island that is typically difficult to access. (The Mass begins around 2:00.)
